Minnesota-based, Bianka Groves, received her BFA in 2012 from George Washington’s Corcoran College of Art and has since worked out of her home studio making porcelain ceramics on the potter’s wheel and teaching at the Northern Clay Center. On the side she walks dogs, goes to punk rock music concerts, sleeps outside as much as possible and stays engaged in progressive political issues. Her work is a reflection of simple confident habits. She believes the voice of a well made object is conveyed through the consideration of process and material. Her surface designs are an ode to simplistic repetition often referencing patterns from ceramic designers of the past.
